Eva Illouz y la salvación del alma moderna. Capitalismo, psicoanálisis y cultura popular
En la estela del Center for Contemporary Cultural Studies de Birmingham o del Internationales Forschungszentrum Kultur-wissenschaften de Viena, el OBSERVATORIO DE ESTUDIOS CULTURALES nace con la voluntad de entender el mundo en el que vivimos. La idea de una SALVACIÓN DEL ALMA MODERNA, acuñada por Eva Illouz, ilumina aspectos de ese mundo y permite aplicar nuestros conocimientos a problemas que surgen de la necesidad de tener que aprender a ganarnos la vida juntos en la conjunción del capitalismo, el psicoanálisis y la cultura popular. A LA SALVACIÓN DEL ALMA MODERNA estará dedicada la cuarta serie de encuentros que albergará la Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo de Valencia, tras las series dedicadas a Identidad y cosmopolitismo: la filosofía de Kwame Anthony Appiah en 2008, a Stanley Cavell, mundos vistos y ciudades de palabras en 2009 y a Bioética y justicia: la filosofía pública de Michael J. Sandel en 2010.
EVA ILLOUZ Y LA SALVACIÓN DEL ALMA MODERNA: CAPITALISMO, PSICOANÁLISIS Y CULTURA POPULAR se corresponde con diversas áreas de conocimiento, desde la Sociedad del Conocimiento hasta la Biomedicina (particularmente en la transversalidad de la Biopolítica), y se dirige al espectro formado por las Humanidades y las Ciencias Sociales.
La estructura de estos encuentros anuales está diseñada para una exposición del autor y para la discusión rigurosa de sus planteamientos con un grupo de estudiosos de reconocido prestigio, de acuerdo con el siguiente programa.
In the trail of the Center for Cultural Contemporary Studies of Birmingham or of the Internationales Forschungszentrum Kultur-wissenschaften of Vienna, the Observatory of Cultural Studies is born with the will of understanding the world in which we live. Eva Illouz’s idea of SAVING THE MODERN SOUL highlights that world and allows to address our knowledge to problems aroused with the necessity to get our living together at the conjunction of capitalism, psychoanalysis and popular culture. The fourth series of encounters that will harbour the International University Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP, Valencia, Spain) will be dedicated to SAVING THE MODERN SOUL. The first series was dedicated to Identity and Cosmopolitanism: The Philosophy of Kwame Anthony Appiah, the second series to Stanley Cavell, Worlds Viewed and Cities of Words, and the third to Bioethics and Justice: the public philosophy of Michael J. Sandel.
EVA ILLOUZ’S SAVING THE MODERN SOUL: CAPITALISM, PSYCHOANALYSIS AND POPULAR CULTURE deals with some fields of knowledge, from the Knowledge Society to Biomedicine (in particular Biopolitics), and is addressed to Humanities and Social Sciences.
The structure of these annual encounters is designed for the author’s exposition and the rigorous discussion of its positions with a group of scholars, in accordance with the following program.
