Spanish Language and Culture (Seville)

  • INTRODUCTION
  • The 2014 Spanish Language and Culture Course in Seville runs from 6to 24 October 2014. Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) is the on-site university organisation for the Ministry for Education, Culture and Sport, specialising in the teaching of Spanish. Alongside its Spanish programme, UIMP is famous for its continuous training seminars for professionals from all areas and its complete programme of cultural activities. Created in 1932 and conceived as a centre for high culture, each year academics, scientists, politicians, creators and other highly prestigious national and foreign professionals from all knowledge disciplines are invited to teach at Santander – UIMP’s most emblematic site, with the Magdalena Palace and the Las Llamas Campus – and at other UIMP sites around Spain, including Seville.
  • SPANISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE COURSES
  • LANGUAGE LEVELS
  • The Spanish courses we offer are adapted to the levels established in the Common European Framework of Reference for Spanish (CEFR). On the first day of the course, there are written and oral tests to determine the students’ level of Spanish. Beginner students (Level A1/Beginner) are exempt from these tests.
  • METHODOLOGY
The methodology is based on learning by skills and the courses deal with aspects of both a linguistic and socio-cultural nature. The four skills are taught integrally: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, oral expression and written expression.
Conscious of the fact that learning a language also involves immersing oneself in the country’s culture, the courses offer the opportunity to discover different aspects of Spanish culture, such as history, art, civilization, literature, cinema, etc., in the classroom and through trips, visits and direct contact with the students.
  • FACULTY
  • The teachers are qualified specialists in teaching Spanish to foreign students. The teaching team is dynamic, open, extrovert, friendly, and highly motivated, making the teaching/learning process especially attractive and fun for students.
