Descripción de la actividad

The Bioeconomy is an economic system based on the transformation of renewable biological resources for human and animal food, energy and industrial bioproducts. The Bioeconomy aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and also reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. Europe is committed to accelerate the transition towards a successful and sustainable Bioeconomy, while promoting at the same time more sustainable societies and better uses of the natural bioresources.

The Bioeconomy seminar aims to discuss the challenges and potential of the Bioeconomy in the Spanish, European and global environment with a distinguished panel of international experts from academia, governmental institutions and industry. Given the nature of the Seminar, the presentations and discussions, both by the speakers and by students will be in English.

The Seminar is aimed at graduates, engineers, masters and PhDs, in any scientific, economic or technical discipline related to biotechnology or (Bio)-economy. The course is particularly relevant for those persons that develop their professional activity in the context of technology transfer, promoting innovation activities, interaction between the Autonomous Communities with the Central government of Spain, or within the EU on issues related to R&D&I.

An active discussion will be encouraged among the different participants, both speakers and students, with a view to get a better insight of the Bioeconomy in our societies. The course will provide students with the tools to actively participate in the Bioeconomy as professionals from their respective professional backgrounds.
